The awards competitions considered to be the three most important in advertising are the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, The One Show and the CLIO Awards.
About Cannes Lions
Cannes Lions began as a part of the Cannes International Film Festival as a competition for movie theater advertisement films, but became independent from 1954 as the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. In 2011 the name was changed to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. It is now the most highly-regarded of many international advertising awards due to its large scale, jury composition, and high level of submissions and winning entries. The 2012 Festival was held in mid-June in Cannes, France.

About The One Show
The One Show is an esteemed advertising award sponsored by the One Club, a non-profit organization formed to discover and foster talent in young creators. It has three large categories: One Show, targeting advertisements; One Show Interactive, targeting Internet-related work; and One Show Design, focusing on design. The 2012 awards ceremony was held in New York in May.
